FIVE essential elementS

Element 1: Stop Denying Your Problems

The first Essential Element is to stop denying your problems, stop denying that your world has dramatically changed, and instead begin recalibrating.

Maybe you are facing foreclosure, or divorce, or debt well beyond your ability to pay, or even the loss of your retirement dream. Every life challenge, life loss comes with all sorts of collateral baggage. For example, say you are facing foreclosure. It’s not just a piece of real estate that you will lose, it’s your home, the place where your children go to after school, the family gathering place, a safe place in a troubled world. You have neighbors, your kids’ friends know where you live. Sure, you have to face the painful legal and economic process, but that’s just the beginning. The real pain is found in the collateral baggage. And this is true for whatever the specific life problem may be. They all come with lots of painful collateral baggage.

To the extent you try to play along as if it’s not really happening will be the same extent to which you will chase your tail in a downward spiral.

Admit it. Face it. Your world has changed. It will never, never be the same again. Humpty Dumpty cannot be put back together again. But here’s the secret you need to know: it’s going to be alright. God knew about this problem that you are facing even before you were born. He is not surprised by this. He was not caught off guard and He promises to work your life trauma into His good purpose for your life – if you will let Him.
