“I’ve Never Heard A Financial Guy Talk Like This!”
That comment was typical of what I’m used to hearing when I
take Recalibrate Today Live on the road.
Recently, we were in North
Carolina where I had the incredible privilege of being invited to also
preach the sermon on Sunday morning before presenting
two formal Recalibrate Live workshops and a couple of informal Q&A
sessions. During one of the latter events I had a former Boeing
engineer tell me, “You know, I get letters from Dobson and Moody and
several other ministries all asking me for money. But nobody is teaching
me how to make money! If I knew how to grow my nest egg I’d be in a
position to give them more, but no one is teaching us how to do that!”
“Ah”, I said. “That is precisely why we created Recalibrate Today
and why I am here. I want to take my 30 years of experience and
help people improve their financial literacy and grow their money, so
that they can do more for the cause of Christ!”
When I got done teaching
the group how they can invest in the stock-market – but with a
guaranteed income safety
net, how they can take advantage of alternative investments that have
no stock market risk at all, but are paying 9% right now, and how they
can create a retirement plan that will allow them to invest as much as
they choose and never pay any income tax even when they pull money out ,
that same retired engineer said, “And here I thought all you were going
to do was say the same old stuff about not using our credit cards and
maybe invest in some mutual funds.Wow, was I wrong. This is really
great information!”
What
the audience really liked was my introduction. I told them, “I’m
sure
you have heard from financial advisors who sell mutual funds. Well,
I’ve certainly done that, but I have also actually built them – from
scratch. And I’m sure you’ve heard from financial advisors who have
talked to a lot of investors. Well, I’ve done that – in seminars, and
one on one, but I’ve also done that on CNNfn, Bloomberg TV and hundreds
of radio programs. And I didn’t stop with teaching just the public, I’ve
also trained hundreds of financial advisors, too. And you know what is
the best part? I have nothing to sell you today – nope! I don’t make any
money whether you do anything with the information I give you, or not.So, let’s just have some intellectual fun.”
After that, everyone relaxed and we had a great time of learning
and sharing. I even used a “financial football’ theme to simplify
the learning process and have even more fun. And
today that audience is feeling a lot better about their financial
future – regardless of what the investment world throws at them. If you
